Last week we took Timber with us on our beach vacation. The last time he had been to the shore was when he was just seven months old—a lifetime ago. So much has happened in the years between, and seeing him there again felt like closing a beautiful circle. Watching him step into the water, slower but still with the same spark in his eyes, filled me with both joy and sadness. Im grateful to give him this special experience once more, knowing how much it means to honor these moments in his senior years.

He has been with us through so much of life. We lived and worked together. His loyalty has never wavered, his love has never failed. Timber has served us and many clients with his companionship, his patience, and his healing presence. He has given us more than we could ever repay. That is why, now, in his senior years, it feels so essential to honor him.

It is easy to celebrate the energy of youth, the playful jumps and endless runs. But perhaps the greater love is found here, in these quiet years, when we meet him where he is and thank him for every season he has walked beside us.

Timber’s days may be shorter now, but his place in our lives is eternal. To honor him is to acknowledge the lifetime of love he has given us, and to give it back in full measure until his very last day.
